The pop icon returned to the MTV Video Music Awards stage years after her panned 2007 performance of “Work B!tch,” gracing Madison Square Garden to run through her latest hit “Make Me…” featuring G-Eazy off her new album Glory .
Spears, who took a break from her Las Vegas residency to hit the Big Apple, got a top-notch introduction from Kim Kardashian West. “We watched her tame the snake and be very untamed with the one and only Madonna,” said West, whose husband Kanye gave an impassioned speech earlier in the night.
“Tonight, we have the pleasure of seeing what she’ll do next. Ladies and gentlemen, making her triumphant return to the VMA stage, it’s Britney B!tch!”
The performance was relatively tame, compared to other performers like Beyoncé. Spears kept her dance moves reigned in, S3xing it up by grinding on G-Eazy as he delivered his verses from the track.
Then, in a surprise twist, Britney sang along to G-Eazy’s top 10 hit “Me, Myself & I” before closing out the performance with a kiss and a hug.
